All About this Blog

This blog contains the ramblings of a 26-year-old American girl living in Paris, France with her husband & her pet bunny, Russell.

My Story:

The first time I ever visited Paris was back in 2004.  I was 16 and a huge geek.

The trip was sponsored by the high school French Club and although it only lasted 2 weeks, it truly changed my life.  Grown-Up Me looks back on all-off this and realizes that I should have been enthralled with all the history around me and the beauty of the French culture… but to be honest, I was more excited about my first sips of alcohol, my first Parisian night club, and most importantly, the feeling of freedom.

The spark had been lit and I knew I had to go back.

When I got to college I decided to do part of my junior year abroad. Of course, I chose to go to Paris (you can read about it on my old blog here:

Those 6-months were like living in a film.  Basically, I met a French guy with a motorcycle.  (That’s why my last blog never got finished).

I made the move back to France in 2010 for love and to pursue my masters degree.  Although the relationship didn’t last, 3 great things came out of it.  The first is this blog.  I started writing to keep in touch with people back home and to deal with all the cultural differences I was going through.

The second is me getting a pet bunny who I named “Russell” after the Russell Stover chocolate bunnies you get at Easter.  He’s my baby.  He’s kind of a spoiled brat.

Baby Russell.

And finally, the third is that in 2011 I met my husband, Edouard.  I tripped over a flowerpot and fell.  He caught me.  The rest is history.  We were married on June 28th, 2014 in Fontainebleau, France and had a fairy tale reception at a beautiful castle nearby.

Today, Edouard, the bunny, & I live together in a tiny apartment in Paris’s 16th arrondissement.

  1. Oh I first visited Paris in 2005, went for an exchange program for 8 months before finally made the move to France in 2011 to do my master! Did I mention I am 26 as well? What a coincident! Look forward to reading more of your adventure 🙂

    • That’s so funny! What made you decided to move here? I have to admit, I was planning on going back to the US after school but love has a way of changing a person’s plans! I’m happy I stayed though because now that the initial “mal de pays” is gone, I’m really beginning to enjoy this city!

      • I have no idea why, it seems I just picked this country to love since I was small. I always knew that my goal is to stay here, rather than going back. Meeting my man did help (we got married last July). I still need to get to know Paris though…
