La Sainte-Chapelle at sunset

In celebration of recent renovations, the Sainte-Chapelle is exceptionally free tonight!!

Hours: 18h30 – 21h30

Edouard and I went yesterday after work and we were stunned by the beauty of this building.

With the setting sun shining through 600 square meters of colored-glass, it was an incredible experience.

Fun fact: the stain glass windows downstairs aren’t the originals – the first ones were ruined during a flooding of the Seine back in the 1600s. They had no idea what was depicted on the original glass, so they just made new ones with religious images on them and hoped that they fit well with the style of the chapel.

As part of this “visite nocterne” a tour guide will give you the 411 about the history of the chapel. But “ATTENTION”! Tonight is the last night!

Metro: Cité (Ligne 4), Hotel de Ville (Ligne 1), Chatelet
