As I mentioned before, on our second day in Mallorca we pretty much spent the whole time by the beach. But I didn’t have time to tell you about our walk through town, the little dutch friends that I made or the funny parrot we saw!
So this post is to show you a bit more of what happened on Day 2 🙂
The first thing that we did when we woke up was take a walk through town to discover our surroundings. Since we wanted to buy snacks for our beach day we headed out in search of a grocery store. Here are some things we saw on our way:
After, we stopped back in at the hotel, grabbed our bathing suits and headed out for a day at the beach!!!
Now even though the Mediterranean is warm compared to what I’m used to (the Atlantic Ocean), it was only May so it was pretty hard to get in. Edouard got in much easier because he just took the plunge and walked out to where it was deeper. I, however, took my time and was slowly inching my way in… That is, until I was spotted by 3 dutch kids.
They thought it was funny to start coming after me and threatening to splash me. Luckily, I had been listening to their mother talking to them earlier in the day, and she was telling them “Nee” (pronounced like “neigh” in English) so I tried it out on them and they backed off for a little bit (because it means no).
Once I got in though, they came after me again. This time I didn’t mind because I was already wet. The only problem?? Since I had told them “nee” before, now they thought I spoke Dutch… Which I don’t.
So they all started babbling at me and I had no idea what they wanted. They ended up taking me “prisoner” and trying to put me in the dungeon (the rocks on the bank). But I kept escaping so they’d have to come after me 😉
After playing with them for a good 20 minutes in the freezing cold water, Edouard came in and saved me. The whole time I understood nothing of what they were saying to me except for “hop” and “fishes” which seemed to be the same words as in English.
After a longgg day at the beach, E and I went out in search of 3 things essential to a Spansih vacation: cocktails, tapas, & paella!! We found all three at the Restaurant “Diferent.” (Although we ended up leaving and getting paella at a another restaurant later because I thought that I saw it cheaper somewhere else… but I was wrong lol).
On our walk back we saw a funny parrot. We had passed by him before and he said “Hello” to me but this time he didn’t feel like talking… at least not when he was asked.
